![]() Fans of the game series will surely be on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting the film's official release, which has been years in the making. Though the legitimacy of the leaked trailer remains uncertain (update: NBC Universal removed the trailer, supporting the trailer's legitimacy), it undeniably provides a tantalizing preview of the Five Nights at Freddy's movie. This suggests that the film may draw from multiple titles in the franchise. The likely possibility is that the game takes place in the 1990s, due to the minimum wage being around 4-5 an hour (when taking taxes into account) during that period. While lacking in quality and substance, the leaked FNAF trailer at least offers a glimpse of what could potentially be the character Springtrap, an animatronic that first appeared in the third installment of the game series. Five Nights at Freddys takes place in an unknown year within the week of November 8th to November 13th, according to Mike Schmidt s paycheck. Cawthon's eventual exit from the gaming industry in 2021 later raised questions about the film's future, although it seems Cawthon remained actively involved in the movie's production. The project also saw many key figures depart over the years, further complicating its development. In particular, this includes several scripts being scrapped before production began after Cawthon reportedly insisted on giving his full approval. Five Nights at Freddys is scheduled to be released simultaneously in theatres and on Peacock in the United States by Universal Pictures on October 27, 2023. Five Nights at Freddy's is expected to release ahead of Halloween this year but was originally announced back in 2015, facing numerous delays due to creative differences between the studio and the game's creator, Scott Cawthon.
